Alex Haines R.V.N., EA-SQP, Head Veterinary Nurse.

Alex qualified in 2009 and joined Howells in 2010. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing and has been responsible for training many nurses through our accredited training practice.  Alex runs nurse clinics, including weight management, puppy and kitten care and senior pet clinics. Outside work Alex enjoys spending time with her family,  including two cheeky terriers!

Sarah Carrick, R.V.N.

Sarah worked in social care for five years  before  joining us in December 2012.  In 2017,  she qualified as a Veterinary Nurse, having trained both at college and within the practice. In addition to the more well known duties  of a Veterinary Nurse, Sarah regularly undertakes pregnancy testing in pigs, using ultrasound. Sarah has an interest in dog behaviour and clicker training. She has many dogs of her own and loves to spend time with them when she is not working. Sarah also enjoys off-roading in her Land Rover and spending time with her five sons.

 

Jess

Jess Woods, Veterinary Nursing  Assistant

Jess has been working in veterinary practice for several years in West Yorkshire before joining the practice in 2015.  She has recently completed a further qualification in small animal anaesthesia, and will soon be embarking upon training to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse.  A keen animal lover, she has recently acquired a Cocker Spaniel pup to accompany her more experienced cat.

 Shelley

Shelley Taylor, Student Veterinary Nurse

Shelley joined Howells Veterinary Services in December 2016, having spent several years working with horses both in and out of veterinary practice .  She is currently attending college to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse.  When she is not working or revising, Shelley enjoys walking her Springer Spaniel Jack and riding her horse Pernod.

Laura Kendall, Veterinary Nursing  Assistant

Laura is our newest recruit and has settled well into the practice. She is enjoying the varied challenges of working in a mixed practice and is a cheerful member of the team.  Outside work Laura enjoys rock climbing.
