Our History

Howells Veterinary Services Ltd. (previously H.M.J. & C.M. Howells, Veterinary Surgeons) was established in 2000 by Mark & Christine Howells. We are a very ‘mixed’ practice, looking after pets, all farm animals and horses. For ten years the surgery was based in Easingwold’s Market Place.

In 2010 we moved in to our new, purpose built premises on York Road. We now have much more space, including three consulting rooms, a dedicated theatre for sterile surgery and separate rooms for both diagnostic imaging and dental procedures.

In-patients are cared for in warm, fibre glass kennels, with separate air-conditioned wards for dogs and cats. We have a comfortable waiting room and we stock a wide range of competively priced pet foods and equipment.

If you would like to see ‘behind the scenes’, please call and arrange a time for a tour of our wonderful facilities.

Fourteen veterinary surgeons man our ever expanding farm department which provides services to pig, dairy, poultry, sheep and beef farmers, and the growing goat and camelid sector.

In 2017 we moved our farm dispensary to Roxby Business Park and opened a farmers’ shop at Roxby Business Park just down the York Road from the main surgery. In addition to medicines and vaccines, we stock a huge range of animal health products here. Our qualified dispensary staff are always on hand in the shop or on the phone to offer advice; please note, you do not have to be a client to deal with us.

We aim to provide informed and practical advice together with competitively priced goods and services. We believe that prevention is better than cure and like to work closely with our clients to maximise health, welfare and productivity.
